In The Zhenhaights:
Expat Retrograde
(2016-2020)
The series explores the intersection of Globalism and the "modern ideal," a collection of works expressing the fusion of my industrial, philosophical, physical, and neo-traditional experiences as an expatriate in pre-Covid-19 Eastern China. This collection explores the conception and projection of expatriate identity in both the physical and digital world of Chinese Modern and Tradition culture and normativity of the period: The rapidity of the expansion of intelligence and communication in "Tier-One" communities; globalism and its influence on present and past Chinese culture; and the “unsung” relationships between Eastern and Western sociology and philosophy, with criticism of Western (American-centric) Exceptionalism on the region's socio-politics and culture .
